Linear Light Effect Print E-mail

Check out this tutorial about making a cool linear effect!

Ok so this is a tutorial about making better linear effects. As you'll probably know, the linear default (black to white) is lame. So I'm here to show you a different way to make a truly kickass effect that you can accomplish in seconds.

First off, draw a rectangle. Any size - hell, it doesn't even need to be a rectangle. No need to convert it to a symbol. Now you should have a stage with something like this on:

Rectangle

Now this is the part that is quite tricky. What you need to do is select the linear gradient once you have selected your rectangle. This is located in the "Color" window. Now you need to change the colur settings until your preview area looks something like this:

Preview Colors

This will make the effect go from left to right on your rectangle, which we don't want. So you need to select the "Gradient Transform Tool" or (F) hotkey. Then click on the rectangle, and rotate the gradient until the white part of the gradient is running perfectly straight horizontally. There you have a very simple and good looking graphic, with a modern touch. You could use it on your Flash site, or include it in your animations. Some other examples are displayed below.
