Creating An Animated GIF Print E-mail
Written by Rawpulse

This tip shows you how to create an animated GIF in Flash.

I've seen alot of questions on forums asking whether it's possible to make animated GIF's in Flash. We know that it's possible to save as a regular GIF with the publish settings.

To access the publishing settings, you need to open your properties window, then click the "Settings..." button next to "Publish:". This brings up the menu where you can select GIF.

Once you have chosen GIF, a tabbed menu will appear at the top, you can then select either Static or Animated (the default being static). Select animate, then save and publish your file.

Animated GIF's are popularized by forums, most notably avatars. So now you can publish your file as a GIF and use it as your avatar. Remember, you need to save the .fla to a location before you can publish the file as a GIF, which will then save to the same place as the .fla.
